IMPORTANT:  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INSTALLER/USER TO DECIDE WHERE AND HOW MUCH WEIGHT TO DISTRIBUTE IN ANY ONE LOCATION.  THE WEIGHT IS DISTRIBUTED DOWN THROUGH THE FRAME AND/OR DISTRIBUTED OVER THE ROOF TOP, AND IS FANTASTICALLY STRONG.  THAT BEING SAID, WEIGHT CAPACITY IS LIMITED TO JEEP’S MAXIMUM STATIC AND DYNAMIC WEIGHT LIMITS.  WHEN PUTTING LOAD ON THE ROOF TOP, TAKE CAUTION TO ALWAYS DISTRIBUTE THE WEIGHT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.  USE COMMON SENSE WHEN INSTALLING AND CARRYING LOADS.  INSTALLATION OF CROSSBARS DOES NOT MAKE YOUR VEHICLE INVINCIBLE, AND THEY DO NOT PROTECT YOU IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE ROLL OVER OR OTHER IMPACT.  PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE.  

BEFORE EACH USE (DRIVE), ALWAYS CHECK ALL BOLTS FOR TIGHTNESS AND CHECK THE POSITION AND STRAPS/BOLTS/PINS OF THE LOAD BEING CARRIED.   WHENEVER LOADING SOMETHING ON TOP OF THE CROSSBARS FOR THE FIRST TIME YOU SHOULD STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING TO CHECK/TIGHTEN EVERYTHING (THIS IS FOR ALL ITEMS ON ALL ROOF RACKS, NOT JUST EXR).    

RETURN POLICY

We are excited that you took time to research and ultimately join our family with your purchase. We pride ourselves on using the best materials, sourced locally, made in America all the while creating jobs in our community. We work hard to make sure that when you receive your product you are completely satisfied from unboxing to installation. Before you make your purchase and before installation, please review our warranty and return policy. If you have any questions, please reach out to support@smsparts.com prior to placing an order or installation.

All return requests must be made within 30 days of your original purchase date. After 30 days, refunds and/or exchanges will only be granted due to manufacturer warranty issues as outlined below under warranty guidelines.

Return Policy

  • All returns are subject to a restocking fee of 25% of the order.

  • Original shipping, return shipping, taxes and handling costs are non-refundable.

  • All returns will be subject to an approval process. Please do not ship any products back to SMS Auto Parts Co. prior to contacting us at support@smsparts.com.

  • Once your return has been approved, you will receive an RMA number which will be good for 30 days.  If the part is received back AFTER 30 days from RMA issue date (email date) then an additional 20% restocking fee will be deducted from the refund – No exceptions. We will only accept returns with an RMA number. Return shipping label and cost are the responsibility of the customer.

  • Eligible refunds will be initiated within 14 business days after we have received the product in our warehouse. Time may vary based on your financial institutions policy once they receive the funds. All refunds will be issued to the original form of payment used to make the purchase.

RETURN EXCLUSIONS

  • We cannot accept any items due to normal wear and tear, rust, negligence, reasonable levels of noise, any issues that rise due to the marrying of SMS products to other manufacturers, minor aesthetics, damage caused by improper customer installation by not following SMS installation guidelines.

RETURNS PROCESS

  • You may request to return your SMS product within 30 days of your original purchase, provided that the product is in its original packaging, includes all original manuals and merchandise materials. You will also need to provide a proof of purchase. We will not accept returns from non-authorized dealers of SMS products.

  • If you have purchased your product directly from SMS, please reach out directly by email to support@smsparts.com. The email should include your name, date of purchase, reason for the request for return/exchange, pictures or videos of the issue, and order number.

  • If you are returning a product purchased from another distributer or point of purchase, contact the company and follow their return process. If this is a warranty issue, please email support@smsparts.com with name, receipt from point of purchase, reason for the warranty exchange and any supporting photos/videos.

  • Upon receipt of the email, SMS will contact you within 2 business days to review the request for the refund.

WARRANTY

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS, WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY CAN ALSO BE FOUND AT WWW.SMSPARTS.COM/WARRANTY AND IN THE DOCUMENTATION WE PROVIDE WITH THE PRODUCTS. WE WARRANT THAT DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM THE SITE WILL BE FREE FROM DEFECTS IN MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP. WE LIMIT THE DURATION AND REMEDIES OF ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.  SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS IS LIMITED TO REPAIR, REPLACEMENT OR REFUND AS SET FORTH IN THIS WARRANTY STATEMENT. NEITHER ANY PERFORMANCE OR OTHER CONDUCT, NOR ANY ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION, STATEMENT OR ADVICE PROVIDED BY US OR ANY OF OUR SUPPLIERS, AGENTS OR EMPLOYEES WILL CREATE A WARRANTY, OR IN ANY WAY INCREASE THE SCOPE OR DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.

Who May Use This Warranty?

This limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser of products and services from the Site. It does not extend to any subsequent or other owner or transferee of the product or any transferee or other beneficiary of the service.

What Does This Warranty Cover?

This limited warranty covers during the Warranty Period (as defined below) defects in materials and workmanship in products and services purchased from the Site.

What Does This Warranty Not Cover?

This limited warranty does not cover any damages due to:  transportation; storage; improper use; failure to follow the product instructions, guidelines or to perform any preventive maintenance; modifications of or any types of repairs to the product and/or a load system carrier other than those authorized by SMS; combination or use with any products, materials, processes, systems or other matter not provided or authorized in writing by SMS Auto Parts, Co.; unauthorized repair; normal wear and tear; cosmetic rust, and scratches; external causes such as accidents, abuse, intentional or unintentional deformation of parts, unlawful vehicle operation, or other actions or events beyond our reasonable control.

What is the Period of Coverage?

This limited warranty starts on the date of your purchase and lasts for a THREE YEAR TIME PERIOD the "Warranty Period". The Warranty Period is not extended if we repair or replace a warranted product or re-perform a warranted service. We may change the availability of this limited warranty at our discretion, but any changes will not be retroactive.

What Are Your Remedies Under This Warranty?

With respect to any defective products during the Warranty Period, we will, in our sole discretion, either: (i) repair or replace such products (or the defective part) free of charge or (ii) refund the purchase price of such products.

How Do You Obtain Warranty Service?

To obtain warranty service, you must call 215-310-1917 or email our Customer Service Department at support@smsparts.com during the Warranty Period to obtain an RMA number. No warranty service will be provided without an RMA number.  Any refunds will go through the authorized distributor, vendor, seller, retailer, re-seller, or website from where the original parts were purchased.  Parts must be purchased from an authorized retailer to qualify for a warranty claim. 

Limitation of Liability

THE REMEDIES DESCRIBED ABOVE ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES AND OUR ENTIRE OBLIGATION AND LIABILITY FOR ANY BREACH OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. OUR LIABILITY WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES EXCEED THE ACTUAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT OR SERVICE THAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED THROUGH THE SITE, NOR WILL WE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF PRODUCTION, WORK, DATA, USE, BUSINESS, GOODWILL, REPUTATION, REVENUE OR PROFIT, ANY DIMINUTION IN VALUE, COSTS OF REPLACEMENT GOODS OR SERVICES, OR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES OR LOSSES, WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT.

THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ANY AND ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
